Joining NATO: A Catastrophic Idea!

If Sweden and Finland decide to join NATO, then there is a possibility that Russia might deploy nuclear-powered weapons. Dmitry Medvedev, the former Russian President, has already warned everyone about the possible consequences of their (Sweden’s and Finland’s) actions.

The Warning

The reports claim that the respective Swedish and Finnish prime ministers are talking to each other and thinking about joining NATO. As soon as the news came out, Medvedev warns about the nuclear threats.

Before Russia attacked Ukraine, nobody thought that Swedish and Finnish would ever join NATO. For sure, Swedish and Finnish people are concerned about the ongoing war. So, joining NATO is just a safe move from their political viewpoints. But the problem is, Russia might not happy about its choices. So, more casualties may take place.

The Fear

The Swedish society of peace and arbitration is not happy with its membership in NATO. Because they think that the government’s decision to join NATO would not make their people feel safer or all of a sudden, the world would not become a secure place.

They fear that taking part in NATO would make them part of the nuclear policy. And their faith in demilitarisation and democracy would start decreasing.

The Solution

There is no doubt that people are worried. And to feel safe and secure, joining a military alliance is the easiest solution to save yourselves during a war. But would it really save you from the destruction of the war? Joining NATO would make you feel good about your safety but it would also make you an enemy of the other military alliances.

Joining NATO or the opposite only means that you are still supportive of the destructive nature of war. A war would only follow another one with the help of existing military alliances. The choices of Sweden and Finland are the easiest of all choices. They are not long-term solutions. So, it would be better to find a different option rather than joining NATO or a similar organization.
