Actor Jeffrey Tambor has been fired from Emmy-winning Amazon comedy-drama ‘Transparent’ after an investigation into sexual harassment claims made by his co-star Tracey Lysette.
Jeffrey Tambor will not appear in the role of transgender mother Maura Pfefferman in future seasons of the show. His role in Amazon’s ‘Transparent’ has earned him many accolades.
Tracey Lysette filed a complaint against the actor after an incident in which, as she revealed in a statement on Twitter, “He came in close, put his bare feet on top of mine so I could not move, leaned his body against me, and began quick, discreet thrusts back and forth against my body.”
Lysette has been praised for coming forward with the claims and the allegations were taken seriously by Amazon who immediately launched an investigation to ensure that everyone on the set felt like they were working in a safe and uncorrupted environment.
Jeffrey Tambor apologized but denied the allegations. He branded the investigation as “deeply flawed” and expressed his disdain at the heavily politicized environment in the film and television industry brought on by the allegations of sexual assault by Harvey Weinstein and the #MeToo and #TimesUp movements.
After the allegations, Jeffrey Tambor said “I am deeply sorry if any action of mine was ever misinterpreted by anyone as being sexually aggressive or if I ever offended or hurt anyone. But the fact is, for all my flaws, I am not a predator and the idea that someone might see me in that way is more distressing than I can express.”
