In Conversation with Yeamin Abrar

Bangladeshi rock band ENCORE recently released the acoustic version of ‘Na Paowar Golpo’ on May 14 from their official Facebook Page. ‘Na Paowar Golpo’ was the very first song of the band’s career, and this new acoustic version aims to uplift people’s mood during isolation. Dipto Paul talked exclusively with Yeamin Abrar, who is the lead guitarist & founding member of ENCORE, to discuss ENCORE’s journey with music and future plans.

DP: How are you bro! How are you passing your days during isolation and what are you doing to keep busy?

YA: Yeah, I am well. Spending good day’s with my family members and developing my inner skills. You know, during the normal time I often busy with my works and study. But during this lockdown, I had lots of time to spend with myself and this is the best time for me to sharpen my ability. Apart from this, I am spending time with my guitar and focusing on mixing and mastering of sounds.

DP: Can you talk about your band ENCORE, and how you stared off?

YA: I along with my two bosom friends Muzayed (guitarist) and Sabir (drummer) had a dream from our childhood to form a band and basically we formed a band also when we were at class 5. But somehow the band did not last long because of our immaturity. But we had coordination between us and back in 2013 we find out our new vocalist and drummer and started ENCORE.

DP: Can you share something about ENCORE’s early days and how you wrote your first song?

YA: In our early day’s we’d often do concerts and private shows in universities and colleges. The response from the fans was quite good at that time which inspired us most to release our new album. In 2016, we released our first song ‘Na Paowar Golpo’ from our own studio and released the music video on our YouTube channel. People loved the song very much. Then, in the same year, we released ‘Srotoshinni’ which was actually the turning point of the band’s career. Back in August 2017, we released our debut album ‘Chinho’ under G series banner.

DP: Can you tell us about a memorable moments regarding your time in the band?

YA: I will never forget the first album launching concert of ENCORE. As there were no sponsors on our first album launching program, so we had to organize all the INS & OUTS of the program but at the same time, we all were little bit nervous thinking about the participation of people. But somehow the show was house full and when I just got on the stage and started tuning my guitar, suddenly everyone stood and started paying tribute to Srotoshini along with my guitar. That was an amazing experience of my life because I never thought that people will love our song so much before the release of the album. After that our vocalist Shakib vai took the stage and then we hugged each other for the first time. This experience was extraordinary and will remain ever in my mind.

DP: What are the bands plans for the future?

YA: We have already started working for our second album. Earlier this year, we already published the first song ‘Grishsho’ from our second album. We are planning to publish one track at a time so that people have enough time to hear the full album songs. Besides, we are also in planning to cover some of our old songs to entertain fans during isolation.

DP: How do you think social media has helped you to reach more fans?

YA: Social media is the biggest platform now a day to reach out to fans. No one will buy CD’s in this era. Even now our fans are communicating with us through social media and we are giving feedback to them by social media also. They are connecting more with us through these social platforms. But at the same time, there are some negative contents also in the social media which are overlapping the good contents.
