Film Friday: Movies to watch this Thanksgiving!

This year, Thanksgiving food will be served with a side of couch potatoes and amazing films!

Turkey Hollow ****

This 2015 television film is directed by Jim Henson and narrated by Ludacris. The film stars Mary Steenburgen, Graham Verchere, Jay Harrington, and Genevieve Buechner.

The film follows the story of a divorced man named Ron Emmerson who takes his two children to visit his eccentric aunt Cly in the town of Turkey Hollow. Tim and Annie find themselves caught in a town with no technology for the holidays. What follows is a whimsical journey where they are chased by monsters. They also need to stop the evil plot of their neighbor before they can turn into actions.

Turkey Hollow is a light hearted film that is ideal to enjoy with kids.

A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving *****

Based upon the popular comic strips Peanuts by Charles Schulz, the film aired on 1973 and won an Emmy Award.

Charlie Brown and Sally prepare to go for Thanksgiving dinner at their grandmother’s when he gets a phone call from Peppermint Patty. Petty invited herself over to Charlie Brown’s house for dinner. Since Charlie Brown doesn’t know what to cook except cold cereal and toast, Snoopy and Woodstock help him host the perfect imperfect Thanksgiving dinner for his friends and family.

The film is perfect to lift up your holiday spirits!

The Lake House *****

The Lakehouse is a 2006 romantic film directed by Alejandro. The film stars Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock in the lead roles. It is the remake of a South Korean motion film names Il Mare.

This movie is one of my all-time favorite movies out there. The undeniable chemistry between Keanu and Sandra Bullock and the extraordinary storyline is what makes this movie so wonderful. For all the hopeless romantics out there, this is the perfect way to spend your thanksgiving.

This movie makes one believe about Kismet

Over the moon ****

Over the moon is a 202 animated musical fantasy movie directed by Glen Keane and John Kahrs. It might just be one of the most gorgeously strange animated films ever made. The movie finds beauty contrasting between earthly and imagination, debilitating grief, and celestial fantasy. The story depicts the story of a 12 years old girl names Fei Fei who lost her mother to an illness. When her father considers remarrying, Fei Fei struggles to reconcile her sorrows. She gets the idea to build a rocket to the moot to meet Change the Chinese moon goddess.

Your Name ****

This is one of those “I can’t talk about it too much without ruining it.” Movies, but I will open with the most important info: Your Name is good. It might not be what you expect and going in blind is probably the best way to experience it. What I can say is that part “What is going on?” experience, part romance, and part coming of age tale make for a story that you can’t help getting invested in. When two complete strangers soon find they have a connection…but no idea who the other is or why they share this, they take on the mystery of trying to find out what’s happening whilst also trying to manage things as best they can. The animation is incredible and if you’ve any other anime classics, Your Name will immediately fit up there with the greats.
