Female Superheroes aren’t still acceptable to Marvel fans as per Sarah Michelle Gellar

“The mindset of ‘the man superhero,’ a rather ancient way of thinking, still exists.”

Marvel fans, from the perspective of Buffy legend Sarah Michelle Gellar, still won’t appreciate female superheroes.

Gellar became well-known for playing the superhuman vampire killer on Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Nevertheless, the actor said that still a lot of “backward” mentality regarding women when it comes to the superhero genre. Despite playing the lead in a female-fronted program about a super-powered hero.

“Women can really thrive in that genre and keep an audience’s attention” she argued. Any attempt from a Marvel film to include a female cast is met with utter failure.

She added, “Sadly, viewers weren’t as understanding. Still pervasive is the mindset of ‘the masculine superhero,’ which is really old.”

Gellar is still best known for her lead role on the television series Buffy. Although, the show’s recent tarnish brought up many charges against Joss Whedon, the show’s creator.

Buffy The Vampire Slayer

Several of Gellar’s co-stars reported inappropriate behavior from Whedon while filming. During her pregnancy, Charisma Carpenter, who portrayed Cordelia Chase in Buffy, said that Whedon harassed her. Also making allegations included Michelle Trachtenberg, who although still a teenager, played Buffy’s younger sister. She said there was an unspoken rule banning Whedon from being alone with her.

Against Whedon, Gellar said, “I’m never going to get into depth because it doesn’t serve anything, it doesn’t fix anything. Those who are eager to talk, tales, and truths earn my deepest respect.”

Again she included, “I just feel that it isn’t beneficial for me to replay the same situations. Making sure that future generations receive better experiences, is where I gain.” The filmmaker and writer refuted all accusations brought against him which came from members of the Buffy team and others. Last year, when asked about the allegations, he responded, “I think I’m one of the kinder showrunners.”
