The Totally Thames festival, an annual celebration of the River Thames, will once again grace the banks of people’s much-loved waterway from September 1 to September 30 with a month-long party full of arts festivals, community events, river races, foreshore archaeology and environmental activities.
Along with some exiting outdoor activities on river, this year the festival also came back with ground shaking concert, music and diversities of art throughout all over the month.
Highlighting ‘Classic Boat Festival’ which is returning on 7 September till September at St Katharine Docks, this September set foot on historic boats and enjoy family activities.
The annual ‘Great River Race’ will take place on September 8 to discover the magical spectacle of more than 300 crews rowing the Thames. The historic Race for Doggett’s Coat and Badge at ‘The World’s Oldest Boat Race’ outdoor exhibition will happen in Guildhall Yard from 8 to 24 September.
This year the ‘The R.A.P Party’ returns to explore the realms of poetry and hip-hop will take place at the elegant Dixie Queen boat on 12 September highlighting Laurie Bolger, Anthony Anaxagorou, Danielle Dash, Tyrone Lewis, Ella Frears, Al The Native, Michelle Tiwo, Ross Sutherland and Theresa Lola.
Apart from this the classical, vocal and spoken-word performances as part of the ‘Bascule Chamber Concerts’ will held within Tower Bridge’s Victorian interior from 20 to 23 September which this year features Renaissance classics, spoken-word pieces and a solo set from a tabla player.
Uncover central European myths and legends during free “Mother Danube” music and storytelling performances from 24 to 27 September and 29 September. Enjoy “Float” from 21 to 30 September where guests led down the tunnel at 30-second intervals, with just a child’s voice bouncing off the walls to follow.
This Festival also features ‘Foreshore Archaeological Walks’ where along the foreshores of Hammersmith, Bermondsey and Bankside, people will discover tales of murder and seedy goings-on among the pottery, mud and inevitable fag ends.
