David Cameron has rejected the offer of leading the COP26 climate summit in Glasgow which is in November and the offer was from Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
Discussing the project with the former PM, he has taken the decision as he thinks he is not suitable for this job and the job should be done by a government minister.
“My understanding is that he felt it was just a little too soon for him personally to come back into a frontline political role,” said Lord Barker of Battle.
Cameron was asked to be the president of the 26th United Nations Climate Change Conference when Claire O’Neill was sacked by the president Boris Johnson, on Friday.
O’Neill was sacked by saying that, the UK is “miles off track” and that promises of action “are not close to being met”
Accusing them O’Neill sent a letter putting out “awful, false and distorted defamatory allegations” in media briefings to support the decision to fire her.
However, the former minister was giving efforts to hold the COP gathering of world leaders in Glasgow in November.
As current proposals are not enough to prevent dangerous temperature rises, countries are expected to deliver more ambitious domestic plans for cutting greenhouse gases by 2030.
