Coming Out Exhibit at Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery

The Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery is currently showcasing incredible art in their new exhibit Coming Out. The showcase is a visual exploration of gender, sexuality and identity. The exhibit is in time to mark the 50th anniversary of the 1967 Sexual Offenses Act, an Act that partially decriminalized male homosexuality in both England and Wales.
Visitors can follow the LGBTQ movement through significant moments in time, perusing unique pieces highlighted by colorful walls and classic staging. Each piece is a snapshot of the times, touching on everything from the AIDS epidemic, to homosexuality in India, to the redefinition of beauty. Seen through the eyes of prominent and talented artists such as Andy Warhol, Sunil Gupta, and Zanele Muholi, the history and message behind each piece of artwork is very easy for people from all walks of life to appreciate and enjoy.
Entrance to the museum and exhibit are free, however if you’d like to support the museum and the showcases the gallery provides, feel free to make a donation.
The exhibit runs until 15 April.
