BOB THE CAT ?2006-2020.

Due to the book “A Street Cat Named Bob” and the film of the same title, telling the story of his relationship with his owner, James Bowen, Bob became probably the most famous cat in the country.

Found by James during a period of recovery from addiction, Bob became his constant companion and a huge hit with the public, as James busked and sold the Big Issue. He became the subject of several further books by James and is also featured in a film sequel, to be released early in the New Year.

Having found the original book an inspiring and moving read, I sat down to watch the film again, as soon as I heard of Bob’s death. James himself posted on social media that the light had gone out of his life and it is easy to see why, as the two of them, each in their own way, found a new quality of life and friendship through their relationship.

My thoughts are with James at this sad time and I hope that it will be a comfort to him to know that his friendship with Bob (who he reckons was at least 14) was an inspiration and an encouragement to many other people.
