Autosport Show 2023 Review

After an absence of three years, as a result of the pandemic, it was great to see the return of the Autosport Show, for which I, along with a lot of other people, had been waiting eagerly. The N.E.C. in Birmingham is an ideal location, due to its centrality and also (being honest), convenience for this writer.

While the show, (like others in the current climate) was on a smaller scale than in previous years, there was still the usual atmosphere and it was exciting to see so many different aspects of the world of motorsport represented.

After a short visit on Thursday to familiarize myself with this year’s layout and to have a preview of the Live Action, I returned to spend the day on Saturday. I began with Live Action and as always, I enjoyed the sights and sounds of a variety of cars and motorcycles racing around the short indoor track in spectacular fashion. A wonderful way to blow away any cobwebs on a cold morning in January! Time then, to explore this year’s displays and stands, which covered motorsport in many forms and also the wider world of motoring. It is interesting to speak to those involved and to see some beautiful machinery, as well as hear interviews and find out what will be happening in the season which lies ahead.

For me personally, the Autosport Show has always been an opportunity to get a grasp on the world of motorsport at the beginning of the year and to prepare myself for the exciting action before us. It never fails to be a thrill personally to be able to attend and as always the event was well organized and presented and attracted visitors from all over the U.K. (this Northern Irish ex-pat picked up on a few familiar accents) and further afield. Mention must be made of PitBox91, who was responsible for media and communication, and many thanks to James, Adam, and all the team who made my visit and review possible and did an excellent job in their promotion of the many different aspects of the event.

As always, it was a thoroughly enjoyable experience and I am already looking forward to what will happen in January 2024.
