Album: Hirudin
Essentially a solo project of electronica exponent Katie Stelmanis Austra expands with various live musicians when on tour. Hirudin sees Stelmanis stick pretty much to the script she’s been writing for nearly a decade now. This is a much more personal set of songs than we’ve heard before. It’s quite a reflective record and yet tries to also be upbeat. It’s a case of hit and miss with the hits being in the majority but not enough to really satisfy. Sadly in such a saturated market this will likely fail to make an impression.
