Myanmar continues to Protest

Despite the deployment of extra military troops ,Myanmar continues to protest against the military coup.

Here are the latest developments:

  • Troops have joined police forces to disperse protestors in the city of Mandalay in northern Myanmar.
  • Earlier, there have been an eight-hour overnight internet blackout. Internet resurfaced at 9 am on Monday morning.
  • People doubt that the blackout might have been used to cover mass arrests or violence.
  • The country woke up with extra military troops on Monday, including the 77th light-infantry division.
  • Armored vehicles have also been deployed in the largest city of Yangon.
  • Despite the show of force, protests continued in the city which included Students and Buddhist monks.
  • The police and soldiers threw rubber bullets and slingshots to disperse them.
  • Student Unions in the city confirmed that several people were badly injured from the clash.

“Protestors on the streets do not care to be arrested or shot,” said a protestor and added that “fear in our mind is going away.”
