4 killed, including child, in Orange county shooting

Four people were killed, including a child, and one injured in a mass shooting at a building complex in the city of Orange, California, on Wednesday night.

The gunman was also injured in a gunfight with police, and was in critical condition at a nearby hospital.

According to Orange Police Department Lt. Jen Amat, one survivor was a woman, who was also hospitalized in critical condition along with the perpetrator.

Police said, they first got the report of the shooting around 5:25 p.m. at 202 West Lincoln Ave. When officers showed up, the shooter was still firing, according to Lt. Jennifer Amat.

Police later claimed that it was undetermined if the shooter’s gunshot wound came from the officers or was self-inflicted.

The identity of the suspect has not been revealed publicly yet. The motive behind the mass shooting is also unclear.

When the officers arrived at the scene, they found bloody clothes and the weapon used in the shooting.

Orange police say it was the city’s deadliest shooting since 1997. “Orange is a very safe city,” said Lt. Amat. “We don’t have stuff like this that happens very often.”

There seemed to be many offices in the two-storey building. The name of the business where the shooting took place was not revealed.

Gov. Gavin Newsom called the event “horrifying and heartbreaking”. He said in a statement that “our hearts are with the families impacted by this terrible tragedy tonight.”

It is the third mass shooting in three weeks in the United States. It comes after eight people were killed in a shooting spree at three Atlanta spas and ten people were killed in a Boulder store shootout.
