The 45-year-old Frenchman Zinedine Zidane stunned the football world by resigning as Real Madrid coach on Thursday just days after winning his third Champions League title in a row which is raising many questions to football fans.
After three consecutive Champions League triumphs, Zidane stood down and when the world’s most successful club is forced to reshuffle, everybody else holds their breath to see what damage is done.
“You have to know when to quit,” said the 45-year-old Zidane, who was Madrid’s coach for two and half seasons. “This is the right moment. I am a winner and if I don’t see it clearly that we will keep winning, it’s time for a change.”
The former Ballon d’Or winner revealed he is leaving because he feels the club have endured a difficult season admitting he was affected by the booing of the fans and urged supporters to get behind the players even in the more difficult times
It was an unexpected move by the former great who won nine titles as Madrid coach, including the three Champions League titles, one Spanish league title, one Spanish Super Cup, two UEFA Super Cups and two Club World Cups.
It is plausible that at least one of the duo will leave and that could have a huge effect on the dressing-room.
“I will be close to this club for the rest of my life. I want to thank the fans, who always supported me both as a coach and a player. There were tough moments during the season and although I was sometimes whistled at, I want to thank the fans.
