On Wednesday, two police officers were shot amidst the nationwide protest for Breonna Taylor. Anika Khan reports.
Strong protests have been going on demanding the revocation of the decision for not charging the three police officers directly over Breonna’s death. Thousands of people have marched down in dozens of cities after the latest jury’s decision in Louisville.
By evening, the protests got tensed as police with protective gear used batons on the protestors to push them down. Officers started to fire flashbangs
Amid the protest, two police officers were shot and badly injured. Shortly after the shooting, the governor of Kentucky, Andy Beshear has urgently called the protestors to retrieve back to their homes. He has condemned the protestors for answering violence with violence. The Louisville police officials have arrested 46 of the protestors so far.
Lawyer Ben Crump who was speaking on behalf of Breona in the ongoing case has demanded the evidence that was shown to the grand jury to take this decision. He condemned the jury to have insulted and offended Breonna’s family.
Protestors were gathered at the Black Life Matter Plaza near the White House in Washington DC. In New York, a crowd was gathered outside Barclay Center chanting justice for Breonna. People in Dallas, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Kansas City have also taken over the streets demanding justice and keeling in honor of Taylor.
