The number of new songs released every day makes creating a running list like this an act of madness as songs are nearly infinite. A list of the best current groups and singers are making some of the best songs of 2018. We’ve had such a great year for new music, whether it was releases by established artists or exciting, fresh talent.
With a steady barrage of new music flooding the airwaves every day, it takes a special catalyst to transcend beyond anonymity. Some have seemingly gone viral overnight, while others have taken a more traditional path toward the limelight. Among many singers some artists to keep an eye on this year are:
Cardi B

Belcalis Marlenis Almanzar known professionally as Cardi B, is an American rapper and became an Internet celebrity through Instagram.
Since signing with Atlantic Records in 2017, she has earned two number-one singles on the US Billboard Hot 100 with “Bodak Yellow” and “I Like It”. Her debut studio album, Invasion of Privacy (2018), on which both songs were included, debuted at number one on the Billboard 200. Time named the rapper one of the 100 most influential people in the world on their annual list in 2018. Among her awards and nominations, she has won a Billboard Music Award and three MTV Video Music Awards.

Years & Years is a British synth-pop band and consists of Olly Alexander, Mikey Goldsworthy and Emre Türkmen.  The band’s debut studio album, Communion, debuted at number one on the UK Albums Chart in 2015 and was the fastest-selling debut album in UK and peaked within the top ten of the charts in Australia, Austria, Bulgaria, Denmark, Germany, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, the Republic of Ireland and Switzerland. Their single “Shine” from the same album reached number two on the UK Singles Chart.
In April 2018 they announced the release of their second studio album Palo Santo which features singles “Sanctify” and “If You’re Over Me”, the latter of which reached the top 10 in the United Kingdom, it was released on 6 July 2018. The album features a dystopia world consisting of robot-like beings named Androids and humans as the minority.
Ed Sheeran

Edward Christopher Sheeran is an English singer, songwriter, guitarist, record producer, and actor. After signing with Asylum Records, his debut album, + (pronounced “plus”) in 2011 topped the UK and Australian and has since been certified seven-times platinum in the UK.
In 2012, Sheeran won the Brit Awards for Best British Male Solo Artist. His second studio album, x (pronounced “multiply”) in 2015 again won the Brit Award and he received the Ivor Novello Award and was named the second best selling album worldwide.
Sheeran’s third album, ÷ (pronounced “divide”), was released in March 2017. The album debuted at number one in the UK, the US and other major markets. He also became the first artist to have two songs debut in the US top 10 in the same week. His fourth single from ÷, “Perfect”, reached number one in the UK and Australia. In April 2018, ÷ was named the best-selling album worldwide.
Demi Lovato

Demetria Devonne Lovato is an American singer, songwriter and actress. After signing with Hollywood Records, Lovato released her first studio album Don’t Forget (2008), which was followed by five more albums. Her struggles with bipolar disorder, addiction, an eating disorder, and self-harm received significant media attention.
After enormous amazing works in 2015, Lovato put out a new single entitled “Cool for the Summer” from her album Confident. The single hit No. 11 on the Hot 100, while the album reached No. 2 on the Billboard 200. The artist enjoyed more success with her follow-up album, Tell Me You Love Me 2017. Lovato drew attention for the June 2018 release of the single “Sober,” in which she candidly admits to a relapse after six years of sobriety.
Jax Jones

Timucin Lam known professionally as Jax Jones, is an English DJ, record producer, songwriter, and remixer. He is best known for his 2016 single “You Don’t Know Me” featuring Raye, which peaked at number three on the UK Singles Chart.
In 2015, he released the single “Yeah Yeah Yeah”. In December 2016, he released the single “You Don’t Know Me” based on the sampling of the bassline of M.A.N.D.Y. vs. Booka Shade’s 2005 hit “Body Language”. The song became his biggest success so far, reaching number three in the UK and top five status in several European countries, including Germany, Ireland, Belgium and Norway. In 2018, Jones will support Demi Lovato in the United Kingdom on her Tell Me You Love Me World Tour.
