Boris Johnson’s incompetence in handling response to the Covid-19 Pandemic has led Britain to face the highest number of the death toll in Europe. Under the Tories watch, Britain is now facing a recession which is twice as deep as the European average.
Many countries took precautions by imposing lockdowns and sealing borders at the end of January. The World Health Organization and China have warned and pleaded to take early measures to stop the pandemic from spreading.
Boris not only refused to agree on an early lockdown, but he was also absent throughout his Government emergency meetings. If only he was responsible and listened to the warnings, tens of thousands of lives could have been saved.
The death toll from Covid-19 had not been suppressed yet. The number of new infections has been above 1000 with the death toll over 100 on Tuesday (highest since June). Long-term structural fragility and callous governance are responsible for the catastrophic impact of Pandemic on Britain’s economy.
The month lockdowns have proved how reliant the nation is on consumer spending. This is because companies couldn’t handle temporary shutdowns and had to cut down wages and sack workers. This has to lead to a terrible strain on the economy and many people lost their jobs.
And now although the issues are addressed, measures are not being taken to overcome these problems. The government needs to mobilize industries. Political pressures must be imposed to prevent job losses. The pandemic has broken the system and it is time for the nation to rebuild it from scratch.
