'Time for a Cuppa': Raising Funds to Help Families Dealing with Dementia

People up and down the country will be organising afternoon tea parties to raise funds for Dementia UK as part of the charity’s annual ‘Time for a Cuppa’ campaign. This year’s campaign will be from 1 – 8 March.
The funds raised from the sale of cups of tea and baked goods at the different events will go towards strengthening Dementia UK’s Admiral Nurses who give vital support to families dealing with dementia.
Dementia UK is looking to increase the number of Admiral Nurses services across the UK and to ensure that everyone who doesn’t have access to one of their Nurses still have access to their vital support. The charity will be increasing the number of specialists working on their Admiral Nurse Dementia Helpline.
Dementia UK’s Admiral Nurses are specialists in dementia and their efforts go a long way when it comes to providing vital support to families struggling to deal with a family member suffering from dementia.
The strain on these families can become too much. Admiral Nurses also provide guidance, as well as practical solutions to challenges that families might face.
The work of these nurses has a truly positive impact on the lives of those they help.
“A diagnosis of dementia can be a life-changing experience, with people and their families feeling alone and scared as a result. ‘Time for a Cuppa’ is all about bringing people together over some tea and cake, to talk about experiences, to encourage support and to raise funds for more desperately needed Admiral Nurses. Whether you’re a builder’s tea or an Earl Grey sort, we’re hoping you can join us for a cuppa,”  said Dr. Hilda Hayo, Chief Admiral Nurse at Dementia UK.
