The Victory Day Festival of Bangladesh Deputy High Commission in Kolkata just concluded

To mark the Liberation War of Bangladesh and its independence in 1971, Bangladesh deputy high commission in Kolkata organised three-day festival titled ‘Bijoy Utsab’ at Bangladesh High Commission premises in Kolkata. The mega event started on 16th December and continued till December 18.

Minister -In – charge for Urban Development and the Minister for Municipal Affairs in the Government of West Bengal and present Mayor of Kolkata,Firhad Hakim was the chief guest of this Victory Day programme.


The inaugural ceremony of the festival was attended by Bangladesh High Commissioner of India,Syed Muajjem Ali, Tripura queen bibhu Kumari Devi, the renowned freedom fighter and cultural personality Nasiruddin Yusuf Bachchu and many more celebrities etc.


Speaking on the occasion Mr. Firhad Hakim said “Bangladesh is a country full of secular and cultural sphere. The people of West Bengal are very happy for the recent Development of Bangladesh and I hope that this development will continue there.”


Bangladesh High Commissioner of India, Syed Muajjem Ali said “currently the fastest development of Bangladesh is really an example of the world. Bangabandhu’s daughter Sheikh Hasina, Prime Minister of Bangladesh always think and try to develop our country. People can be proud of this remarkable achievement. The War of Liberation in 1971, has contributed much to the people of Calcutta in order to gain victory. The victory of Bangladesh means the victory of Kolkata”.


Bangladesh Deputy High Commissioner of Kolkata Tawfiq Hasan told to the media that the victory festival of Bangladesh is the main goal of the glorious variety of historical, cultural and commercial matters, as well as promoting the country’s image by presenting our friendly cordial relations existing between the two country’s peoples will be further strengthened.


Mansoor Ahmed , Counsellor of Bangladesh Deputy High Commission,Kolkata in his speech highlighted the different aspects of the Liberation war .He also added that the current Government has made the development of the model that will be an example to the world.


Mofakkharul Iqbal , First Secretary (Press) of Bangladesh Deputy High Commission,Kolkata said,
this type of cultural exchange can improve the heritage of two neighbouring countries and the relation between India and Bangladesh will definitely developed.”
Minister of Power&Non-Conventional Energy Sources,Govt of West Bngal Mr. Sobhandeb Chattopadhyay,was present as the chief guest at the closing ceremony of the Victory Day Festival. In his speech, he was in favor of the rapid development of difficult decisions of democracy in Bangladesh and he also mentioned that the impossible has become possible at the time of the current Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Almost 250 photographs related to Bangladesh Liberation War victory celebration and Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibar Rahaman were displayed at the festival arena.
A documentary on the recent development of Bangladesh and liberation war were also screened.
Bangladeshi student of Biswa Bharati University of West Bengal performed a dance-drama .‘The three-day festival also featured music performance, where noted singers from Bangladesh and India —like Iman Chakraborty , Leena Tapashi Khan, Mousumi Bhaumik and Bulbul Mahalanobis enthralled the audience on different days.
Besides The Indian Army Head Quarter Eastern Command , Kolkata honoured thirty Bangladeshi freedom fighters and six serving military officers at the 5 day Victory Festival of Indian Army compound.
