The veteran British rock band Cure have declared that they are going to perform their first gig in 27 years at Glasgow Summer Sessions 2019 where they are the first headliners.
The Cure joined with Mogwai and The Twilight Sad, with an opening set from the Welsh band The Joy Formidable. Details for the event are available from 9am as the band prepare to headline the annual summer festival. They’ll be performing on Friday August 16.
Organizers DF Concerts adressed the show as “One of the most anticipated Scottish shows of the year.”
It is the first show of cure after they last performed in Scotland in 1992, with four dates north of the border. The Cure last performed in Scotland in 1992, with four dates north of the border.
Mogwai’s Stuart Braithwaite said about the delay of Cure performance,
“If I’d known that the wait to see them play here again would be so long, I’d have been very shocked.”
“I’d have been even more shocked but more so delighted that I’d be in a band opening for them 27 years later. I’m beyond excited and honored to be part of this bill.”
The band, who are famous for hits including Friday I’m In Love, Boys Don’t Cry and Just Like Heaven.
Tickets go on sale Friday, 26 October at 9am and tickets for the Bellahouston Park gigs are priced from £59.50 and VIP briefs will also be available.
