On Saturday 25 April, The Beatles are set to release a sing-a-long version of their animated Yellow Submarine film online for one day only. Tara Pilkington reports.

For those who want to take part, head over to The Beatles’ official YouTube channel at 9PM PDT/12PM EDT/5PM BST on this Saturday. This sing-a-long will feature Beatles hits such as ‘Eleanor Rigby’, ‘When I’m Sixty-Four’, ‘Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds’, ‘All You Need Is Love’ and more.

This version of the classic 1986 film was released in cinemas back in 2018 to celebrate its 50th anniversary. However, this weekend marks the first time that this film has been available online.

Announcing the “Yellow Submarine” live-stream on Twitter via The Beatles’ official Twitter account, Ringo Starr said:

“For those of you missing singing together, I’ve good news,” Starr said. The April 25 “Yellow Submarine” movie singalong on YouTube is “for kids and kids at heart. Peace and love. I know I’ll be there; I hope you will too.”

This event is just the latest in a list of new live streams and virtual gigs which have been taking place across the internet while the world self-isolates as a result of coronavirus.

Last weekend Lady Gaga hosted fundraiser One World: Together At Home, a benefit concert for the COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund, which raised nearly $128 million (£102m) in total!
