The Disasters Emergency Committee brings together 14 leading UK aid charities, raising funds to respond to overseas disasters quickly and effectively.
Millions of lives are at stake as coronavirus hits some of the world’s most fragile places, including Yemen, Syria,Afghanistan, Somalia, South Sudan, andthe Democratic Republic of Congo. 24 million displaced people live in crowded temporary shelters in these countries. In Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh, home to the world’s largest refugee camp, 850,000 Rohingya refugees are living in an area 1.5 times more densely populated than New York City.
Displaced families need your help: those in countries where there is no NHS; who have fled violence, conflict, and hunger. Families who areliving in crowded displacement camps and settlementswhere social distancing can be impossible, with limited access to medical care, soap, or clean water.
As we’ve seen in the UK, simple measures can make a huge difference. Your support can helpprovide:
- cleanwater, soapandhygiene kits to help families protect themselves
- lifesaving PPE, medicalsuppliesand training for frontline medical and aid workers
Help protect the world’s most vulnerable people as they face this deadly new threat.
