Authorities in Singapore have announced that schools will be closed to protect children from new strains of Covid from Wednesday. This new kind of strain is affecting more children than ever recorded before. 

Until the new announcement of the school term is coming along with junior colleges, the primary and secondary school also going to move to home-based classes from 19th May which ends on May 28 to control the risk between children, stated by Health Minister Ong Ye Kung.

Chan Chun Sing, Singapore’s education minister confirmed that “some of these mutations are much more virulent and they seem to attack the younger children.”

Officials decided that they are going to make a plan for vaccinating people under the age of 16 to reduce the risk of contracting the disease or spreading it.

To control the rising case number the city-state has put restrictions for public gatherings, closed indoor restaurants, and told gyms to shut down from May first.
Last 8 months the domestic cases were almost zero but this Sunday the highest number 38 confirmed so that the virtual press conference announced these new stricter restrictions.
Following Taiwan’s new decision about restrictions, the Singapore government also announced that education hubs will close due to similar concerns about the new Indian strains on Tuesday.

Education ministry announced , “with the sharp increase in the number of community cases, including the spike in unlinked cases today, there is a need to reduce interactions and avoid the risk of large clusters,”
