Seven Missing Climbers Body Recovered: Indian Himalayas

The bodies of seven climbers who went missing in the in the Nanda Devi region of Indian Himalayas on May 26 following an avalanche have been recovered during the search for eight missing climbers.
The searching is still going on to find the eighth climber said the Indian officials. The eight went missing in a ridge between two glaciers at an altitude of 5,380m near Nanda Devi.
The missing climber’s group included Four Britons, two Americans, an Australian and an Indian who were supposed to climb India’s second-highest peak.
Martin Moran was the group leader who has been identified as British mountain expert. The missing eight climbers had been part of a larger team of 12, each of whom had a permit to summit Nanda Devi East.
A search team spotted five bodies which believed to be from the missing team were spotted by air nearly two weeks ago in early June.
“She had been planning on doing something like this ever since I have known her, more than 20 years,” said Trent Goldsack.
“Soldiers reached the bodies on Sunday but they had yet to be identified,” said Vijay Jogdande, an administrator of Uttarakhand state.
According to the Indian authorities the group did not have permission for climbing there and also Vijay Kumar Jogdande, the District Magisrate “would not have given permission,” if they had asked.
Mark Thomas, 44, Zachary Quain, 32, Kate Armstone, 39 and Ian Wade, 45 have been identified.
The identity of the other missing climbers have not been officially released.
