If you haven’t heard of Celeste, then you’ve either been living under a rock or haven’t been up to date about the news. Considered the finest soul singer to emerge in the following years, Celeste has managed to win Britain’s heart with her incredibly soulful voice.

Celeste Epiphany Waite was born in May 1994 to a British Jamaican family. She began her career providing vocals for dances and renowned musicians covering classic soul, funk, and jazz songs which eventually gained her the confidence to start writing her own material. At the age of 16, she recorded a video on YouTube caught the attention of companies and since then there was no looking back. Within a couple of years, she rose to fame and by the end of 2019, she received the BRITS rising star award. In 2020 she received BBC Music Award.

Upon receiving the BRITS award, Celeste said, “It’s a huge honor to be the recipient of the BRITs Rising Star Award. I hope to make the most of this incredible opportunity.”

Still basking in the glow of her recent achievements, Celeste has garnered a string of singles including ‘Lately’, ‘Father’s Son’, and latterly ‘Strange’. She has sold every London show this year and made headlines with her incandescent voice and breathtaking live performances.

Recently Celeste released her new single, “‘Stop the Flame’. When asked about her new release Celeste revealed, “Stop This Flame is a song about seeing it through to the end. Whether it’s about not letting go of love, not letting go of a dream, or stridently coming through some form of adversity, the song has always evoked those feelings within me.”

Her huge success and fame have also brought along new challenges. Celeste lamented about other’s expectations to look perfect all the time. She said, “People put celebrities on a pedestal. It’s like they’re these superhumans who look perfect all the time and they have this idyllic, godlike physique.”

Elaborating on the message, she said, “Women say that to themselves every day in the mirror…but to get to the level that some of those stars are at you have to have thick skin anyway

She added,” I feel like the kind of person I am, I wouldn’t let it affect me or get to me. It’s not something that scares me.”

Celeste has also spoken about how the Pandemic has impacted her career. With all the uncertainties about the pandemic she said, “I’ve just kept going so that next year I’m in a good position to go out and hopefully do all that stuff.”
