Rishi Sunak tops the second round of voting by the Conservative MPs. There had been a race for the next Prime Minister in the UK. It happened on Thursday. He had bagged 101 votes for himself. Sunak had topped the list in the first round with 88 votes. It is expected that he might make it to the top two candidates.

Rishi Sunak, the ex-finance minister won most of the votes in the first round to succeed Boris Johnson as the Prime Minister and the leader of the Conservative Party. Sunak was followed by Penny Mordaunt who scored a good number of votes. 67 votes were bagged by Penny, which was followed by Liz Truss, the Foreign Secretary with 50 votes.

Sunak was told to be a schoolboy and a liar who cannot be trusted on matters related to tax. He despite all such claims managed to top the list in the first round. Sunak’s resignation from the existing cabinet during Johnson’s reign marked his downfall. He is now a potential candidate upon winning the UK elections.

Many claims against Sunak have been put forward which point to his treachery against Johnson. Cabinet Minister Mark Spencer, who is Sunak’s supporter brushes off the claim that he had been plotting against Boris Johnson.
