Rise in Knife and Gun Crime Accelerating

According to figures collected by police forces across England and Wales, the two nations are experiencing a rise in crime. Comparing the amount of cases recorded this year and last year, crime has risen by 14%.
However, what is more worrying is the fact that crimes involving knife and gun violence have increased significantly, by 21% and 20% respectively. This is evidence that violent and extremely harmful crimes are not just increasing but doing so at an accelerating rate.
Despite the figures recorded by the police, the Crime Survey of England and Wales has recorded a 10% fall of crime over the last year. Both reports agree that knife and gun crimes have recorded a rapidly escalating increase.
An increase in less violent crimes such as stalking, harassment and robberies were also recorded. But the accelerating rise in knife and gun crime which are often lethal are the most worrying figures.
