Review: Michael Kiwanuka

Mr Kiwanuka is sensationally back out on the road with a no nonsense performance.

Why bother with the flash and fancy shows when all he needs are his songs and music for a captivating night of tunes, supported by his brilliant band and mesmerising back-up singers.

You are treated to some powerful, energetic and sometimes haunting renditions from his 3 albums, from ‘Hero’ to a crowd contributing extended version of ‘Love & Hate’. A highly recommended night of under engineered music, enjoyed by people of all ages and backgrounds.

As a side note, it will be interesting to see how far the warm-up act Tawiah develops after seeing her raw performance. She certainly has the voice to go far.
