In a “record of violent and cruel” sexual assaults, rapist policeman David Carrick exploited his “political power,” the court hears.
During a two-day trial, the 48-year-old Metro Police officer gets sentenced for 49 crimes involving 24 counts of rape. He stood in the prison at Southwark Crown Court.
He emailed one of his targets a picture of him holding a revolver. However, that got issued through his employer along with the message, “Know, I am the boss,” the court heard.
Additionally, Mr. Carrick misused his lead pipe and handcuffs when he attacked a dozen women overmore than 17 years.
If the criminal activity got succinctly and honestly summarized, it was systematic, according to prosecutor Tom Little KC.
“It was a long list ofviolence and sexual offenses committed against several victims. Regardless of whether he got a control or coercive connection with them or not.”
Mr. Little stated that Mr. Carrick did not care about the identity of the women. Also added, “The truth remained, if he got the potential, he might rape, sexuallyabuse /assault them, or degrade them.”
In court, victims’ statements got to be read aloud.
The Victim’s Scary Experience
“That night I thought I could meet something monster,” one guy said. And, I genuinely believed he was planning to murder me. I was grateful that I got the opportunity to depart the next morning since I didn’t think I would.”
“I felt so dirty, ill, and embarrassed.”
Mr. Little said that Mr. Carrick met a lady in a London pub in 2002. Eventually, he assured her that “he was the safest guy she could interact with.” And added that “he wasa police officer” before escorting her to his close-by apartment.
He said in court that she “froze” as he held a black revolver to her head. And shouted, “You are not going,” before repeatedly raping her.
In his statement to the court, defense attorney Alisdair Williamson KC said, his client “accepts complete blame for his done.”
According to the judge, Ms. Justice Cheema-Grubb, this morning, she would deliver the penalty.
