Period poverty and tampon tax are just two of the issues the author touches upon. With Period, Barnett is breaking the taboo surrounding periods. By sharing her own and others’ period anecdotes and presenting thoroughly well researched facts, Barnett has done all women a favour. She is hoping to instill a sense of period pride and to break the taboo. I’d say she’s succeeded.
