China researchers have recently discovered a weird news that like the mammals, spider also produce milk to feed their young and spider milk is more nutritious than cow’s milk.
According to the new study published in the journal Science, Females of the species Toxeus magnus, a jumping spider that mimics ants, feed their offspring a milk-like substance Credit. Pressing gently on a female spider’s abdomen and it will produce yellowish fluid from the opening where it laid it’s eggs.
The act of breast-feeding is so fundamental to being a mammal and continuing to look after them almost into adulthood. Juvenile spiders eat all kinds of food. They feed on little bugs, and in others they get dust. Past research has likewise discovered a few bugs essentially don’t eat anything until the point when they develop sufficiently vast to chase.
“It sets up interesting questions about why this happens in the first place,” said Nathan Morehouse, assistant professor at the University of Cincinnati.
“Why are these spiders acting like college kids returning home to live with their parents?”
Spiderlings continue drinking their mother’s milk even after reaching sexual maturity.
“That’s super weird,” saying this Jonathan Pruitt added “The fact that the parental care extends all the way until female offspring are adults is pretty surprising, eyebrow-raising.”
The researchers have named the new liquid spider milk and mayb the milk made from unfertilized eggs that the mother spider has recycled.
“A higher female sex ratio is beneficial to the population, more females mean more offspring,” said Chen.
The report’s authors declined Gizmodo’s request for comment.
