Comic-Con 2018 has revealed new material and trailers for upcoming TV Movie specials and adaptations for some of the most popular cartoons this century.
As Disney fans may remember, Kim Possible was a highly successful action-comedy series that ran from 2002 to 2007 and is one of the most beloved Disney Channel series. Now, eleven years after it’s finale – Disney has announced that a live-action adaptation will debut in 2019. The film will star new actress Sadie Stanley as Kim Possible, the freelance hero, and Sean Giambrone (best known for his role of Adam Goldberg in ‘The Goldbergs’) as Ron Stoppable, her faithful sidekick.
Meanwhile, the highly popular and critically-acclaimed Cartoon Network series, Steven Universe, is getting an exciting feature-length movie. It is unknown at this point whether or not the movie will bring the end to the series, but with the current arc revealing who may possibly be the final major villain for the entire series, it is highly likely the movie will be the StevenBomb to end all StevenBombs. A release date has not yet been set.
Long-time fans of the cult-classic series, Invader Zim, are rejoicing as a trailer for an upcoming movie has been revealed. The Nickelodeon show was cancelled in 2006 with only 2 seasons. Despite this, the show has gained increasing popularity over the years. This coupled with Zim initially receiving critical acclaim (and a few awards) has spurred Nickelodeon into reviving Zim with a new movie. “Invader Zim: Enter the Florpus!” is to debut sometime later this year.
