New Guinness World Record for BTS’ ‘Dynamite’

BTS belted yet another Guinness World Records for their charts topping hit single ‘Dynamite’ as it has earned the title of ‘Most simultaneous viewers for a music video on YouTube Premieres’.

World famous K-Pop band BTS might not have won the Grammys, but they have unquestionably won millions of hearts. They have already on the height of success that very few have claimed.

Even months after the release of their record breaking single “Dynamite”, it’s still hot in the charts worldwide. BTS has now officially claimed the Guinness World Records title for Dynamite. It holds the record for the most concurrent audiences for a music video on YouTube Premieres.

On March 16, Guinness posted on Twitter that BTS had earned the record with over three million concurrent viewers. Though “Dynamite” MV was released in August 2020, the Guinness had to wait for YouTube to validate the audience count before acknowledging BTS’ latest world record. They jokingly termed the record “the worst kept secret in history”.

Last year, Guinness confirmed that BTS claimed the record for ‘Most viewed YouTube video in 24 hours ‘, ‘Most viewed YouTube music video in 24 hours’ and ‘Most viewed YouTube music video in 24 hours by a K-pop group’ with ‘Dynamite’. The MV had garnered over 104 million views in the first 24 hours after its release. Currently it has more than 936 million views— very close to 1 Billion views.

Along with that BTS has made history when the virtual premiere of the group’s “Bang Bang Con: The Live” reached 756,000 simultaneous viewers. Also, their album ‘Map of the Soul: 7’ holds the title for the best-selling album ever in South Korea!

This world record confirmation from Guinness came only days after BTS broke the internet with their sizzling performance of ‘Dynamite’— their first-ever solo performance at the Grammy Awards. They performed on a massive roof-top and mesmerized the viewers with their electrifying dance moves.

However, BTS losing out the Grammy award to Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande, made ARMY, their fan-base, upset all over the world as the chart data clearly show the supremacy of ‘Dynamite’ over any other song of 2020. Soon after that ARMY started cheering up BTS by trending hashtags on Twitter like #BTSOurGreatestPrize and #LightItUpBTS.
