A new documentary of Prince with direction of Ava DuVernay is coming live which is is sharing its trove of interviews, archival footage, photos, archived recordings, and unreleased material with DuVernay, as reported by Deadline.
The news is announced by DuVernay after tweeted about the project on Monday night and two sources has confirmed the news.
DuVernay began working on the documentary earlier this year, and has visited the late artist’s Paisley Park home often. Prince passed away on April 21, 2016, and before he died he had contacted DuVernay because he wanted to work with the Oscar nominated filmmaker.
“Prince was a genius, a joy and a jolt to the senses. He was like no other. He shattered preconceived notions, smashed boundaries, and shared his heart through his music,” saying this the director also tweeted, “The only way I know how to make this film is with love and great care.”
The show marked the debut of guitarist Wendy Melvoin and the “Purple rain” era of the Revolution. The documentary will chronicle Prince’s entire life and career.
“Prince was a genius and a joy and jolt to the senses. The only way I know how to make this film is with love. And with great care, I’m honoured to do so and grateful for the opportunity entrusted to me by the estate,” said DuVernay when the dead news of Prince came out.
Prince:Last Year of a Legend, is followed in the documentary series in Channel 4’s.
