Netflix Adds New Genre Following ‘Black Lives Matter’

Netflix has added a new collection on their streaming platform titled as ‘More Than A Moment’, to enrich the knowledge of the audience about racial injustice and Blackness in The US. Puza Snigdha reports.

A collection with several movies and TV shows has been added on Netflix with the short description: “Black lives matter. Learn more about racial injustice and the Black experience in America with this collection of films, series and documentaries.”

The announcement of this giant step came on Wednesday when Netflix Tweeted:

“When we say ‘Black Lives Matter,’ we also mean ‘Black storytelling matters.’ With an understanding that our commitment to true, systemic change will take time – we’re starting by highlighting powerful and complex narratives about the Black experience,” Netfix said.

Highlighting 47 titles The collection features “the complex and layered stories about racial injustice and Blackness in America” from Netflix’s original series “Dear White People” to “Malcolm X” and “School Daze”.

The collection includes Ava DuVernay’s Oscar-nominated documentary 13th, Spike Lee’s early film She’s Gotta Have It, and acclaimed TV shows Dear White People and Pose.

Further titles include Dee Rees’ Mudbound, investigative docuseries Who Killed Malcolm X?, music documentary What Happened Miss Simone?, and Ryan Coogler’s directorial debut Fruitvale Station.

Several TV shows that feature actors in blackface have been taken down over the past few days. Streaming platforms have been responding to the Black Lives Matter movement prolifically.

However, one can choose the new collection or can go back to their home page if they are not interested.
