Musicians Pay Tribute to Iconic Aretha Franklin Who Died at Age 76

“The Queen of Soul”, the legendary singer and songwriter Aretha Franklin died Thursday at the age of 76. As news of her passing spread, Musicians, politicians around the world have made emotional tributes. Among them: Britney Spears, Mariah Carey, Clive Davis, Paul McCartney, Elton John, Brian Wilson, Diana Ross, Betty LaVette, and Carole King.
Her official cause of death was advance pancreatic cancer of the neuroendocrine type, which was confirmed by Franklin’s oncologist, Dr. Philip Phillips of Karmanos Cancer Institute,” reads a statement from the family.
Lady Gaga wrote on Twitter that Franklin was an “angel of music”.
Mariah Carey, who had chance to perform with Franklin many times, shared several tweets in which she described Franklin as “my inspiration, my mentor and my friend”.
Her last record released in the form of 2017’s ‘A Brand New Me’, shortly before she announced her retirement.
“I must tell you, I am retiring this year. I feel very, very enriched and satisfied with respect to where my career came from and where it is now”, she confirmed at the time.
