Music Monday: Selected Songs for This Week!

Adam Humphries, the music editor for WhatsOn, recommends some recently released upbeat music to you. Let’s together, create a playlist and dance the rest of the week away. The week’s top playlist is presented here.

Presenting the debut single from IT MAN – ‘WHITE HEAT’ following moving band name change announcement.

It has certainly been a lot happening with IT MAN, formerly known as The Jacques. Following the untimely death of friend and musician bassist, Will. However, the band have managed to support each other through the difficulties and have released their latest song, White Heat which is out now.

The song itself is just under three minutes long and even though it does sound upbeat and packs a generous amount of guitar riffs the lyrics do somewhat parallel the mood. White Heat is about dark inner thoughts whilst pretending to be film characters who have a sinister edge. In the band’s case, anything Ray Liotta related

Danish cult legends HOWL BABY HOWL is set to return after a decade away with garage rock infused new album – ‘Heavy On The Tongue’

After ten years away Danish rockers HOWL BABY HOWL are back with their new album, Heavy On The Tongue but have decided to release a single from the album called, Walking A Lot. For those who are already familiar with the Danish legends need no introduction. For everyone else who hasn’t just keep listening as you may well be in for a treat.

Walking marks something of a change to the band’s sound style as they’ve added garage rock into the mix and it has to be said that the results are actually impressive. Even though their music’s evolved they haven’t forgotten what it was that was adored about them as the earlier sounds are still there. A progression has clearly been embraced and it’s clearly been pulled off

ROWSIE release disparaging anti-war single – ‘Makeshift Grave’ to address the plight in Ukraine.

Now for anyone who’s been watching the news for over a year obviously is aware of the horrific atrocities happening in Ukraine 🇺🇦. Seemingly endless devastation, pain and death. Many artists have spoken openly about the conflict, and small handful have even gone as far as making Anti-war songs. Britain’s ROWSIE has made her own single which addresses the war, hardships and political deceit surrounding it directly. The lyrics address the lies by certain world leaders in their attempts to cover up the truth and dealing with those who dare say otherwise. ROWSIE sings some of the song from a parental perspective as a parent who’s lost their child and has had to bury them.

The lyrics in this song are so carefully constructed and so spot on it’s almost hard-core. ROWSIE is also releasing the single as a charity song, more information below

Use the link below to see the video

It features Ukrainian dancer Angelina Lengyel and choreography by Anastasiia Artiushok. Costumes and floral crowns were provided by designers Nataliia Horbenko and Anfisa Polyushkevych. All have been affected by the war in personal ways.

Proceeds for the sales of this single will go to the charity British-Ukranian Aid who ROWSIE have worked with in 2022 raising over £10,000 for the charity in a previous benefit concert.
