Music Monday: SCOTT MATTHEWS releases daring new electronica single ‘New Skin’

New Skin, one of the news singles from Scott Matthews album of the same name. It’s almost four and a half minutes long and is a relaxing, melodic, electronic, soulful sweep from start to finish. As you would expect, Scott’s vocals are completely smooth and captivating to the ear and are filled with emotion from the first note. Adam Humphries reports.

The song itself is reminiscent of electronic soul singers, James Blake and Thom Yorke, practically within the same vein. In fact, they are three singers I wouldn’t mind getting together. If they did something musically magical would no doubt happen?

New Skin is simply flooding with ambient, easy listening sounds that are absolute bliss and are a must for anyone who is a fan of electronic soul, ambient and melodic sounds. Overall, the song itself is genius in itself to listen to and is a great piece of music by Scott Matthews who is definitely proving his musical worth as a singer-songwriter and producer

The video for this is quite an interesting one and, in some way, quite clever too. It’s got elements of Vanessa Paradise ‘Joe Le Taxi’, REM’s ‘Everybody Hurts’ and Chris Rea’s ‘Road to Hell’ in that it takes place in a car moving along the road, thus giving an intimate person-person type perspective.
