Music Monday: 6 Hot Drops of This Week!

Step aside, dance floor. Adam Humphries is building a sonic rocket. Buckle up for a genre-bending trip through musical galaxies. Forget your mama’s playlist, this is laser-sharp hooks and soul-jackhammering beats that’ll blast you into orbit. Ditch the tired tunes, Humphries is the sound wizard rewriting your soundtrack.

HIGHWAYVES deal with escapism with intense alt-rock whirlwind – ‘Evie’!

An absolutely incredible single, found myself getting completely immersed in it that quickly it is that good. As someone who listened to a lot of rock music during the 90’s I can definitely hear the influences. I like how they take something that has influenced them and used it to make into something else. Am going to keep an eye and ear out for them

Allen Ling unveils video for ‘Remember’, the final track of his trifecta of heartbreak, recovery & healing.

First and foremost, I think that Allen has really managed to pull out all of the stops for his video. Even though it’s a music video it has that cinematic look, you’d easily think that was for a film. Allen’s presence throughout the whole thing is magnetic. A great mixture of live recording, video clips as well as film-sequence type shots. Really enjoyed it

ALL THE BEES release evocative ode to the king of the birds – ‘King Crow’!

A really sweet, melodic song straight from the start and right to the end. Kirsty and Gitika both have incredible voices which neither are afraid to use. Vocally, they both have an equal balance of soothing and haunting and aren’t afraid to sing about life, death and rebirth

Listen

The video itself is both captivating and artistic. I enjoy how the video ties in with the nature of the song, also it has that feeling of nostalgia. And there’s added lyrics if you want to singalong (or mime)

JESSICA WILDE enlists ZOE KYPRI for soul searing new single – ‘Feathers’!

Jessica Wilde just doesn’t make a bad record, and I should know as I’ve heard some of her material over the past couple of years. Zoe Kypri gives the song just that little extra with her vocals on the backing. I thoroughly enjoy Feathers and it just shows that Jessica is a musical talent, and force, to be reckoned with. I look forward to her next album

Jessica Wilde upcoming shows:

PxSSY PWR @ Hootananny Brixton 13/12/23

Hollyoaks star Paul Danan directs – ‘Follow’ – video for Bristol hip hop artist Phil Mac!

Gritty, brutally raw, unapologetically honest and I absolutely love everything about it. Phil Mac is one of the reasons why I enjoy homegrown musical talent, and especially why I just never get bored with it. Phil sings about what he knows, mainly life experiences, and occasionally life isn’t always sweet bliss

Listen

For those who watched Paul Danan in the 90’s/00’s will remember him as Sol in British soap Hollyoaks. This time he’s behind the camera and I’m impressed by the video. A good career move
