XMAS SINGLE: Terry Emm strolls candy cane forest in – ‘Gently’

Well, he’s been so far helping to promote other artists but now it’s Terry’s own turn to take the spotlight. And do it he has, with his new single Gently, which he has released as his Christmas single. For a Christmas song, it’s actually not altogether that bad and doesn’t go into the usual Festival lovey-dovey territory. Instead, Terry balances it out by singing about love, loss, and finding that inner calmness amidst all the surrounding chaos. Terry has a calm, soothing voice almost as though he is whispering directly into your ear

The video which was a co-productive animation features the main character who is presumably supposed to be Terry walking through the woods in a winter woodland setting.

Alice SK deals with forbidden romance with his wintery new single – ‘On The Road’!

You may not have heard of her yet but you soon will. London-based singer Alice SK tells the story of the ever-infamous case of forbidden Romance, basically in which the sweet innocent girl-next-door falls in love with a typical bad-boy type in her new single on the road. Alice talks about something that so many of us are familiar with; Boy Meets Girl boys a bad and everyone knows it except the girl who’s young naïve and in love

Alice shows her songwriter talents when she sings about how the sweet naive girl fools for the charms of the archetypal bad boy and how she gets her heartbroken. And as always never realizes until too late. For a singer-songwriter, Alice shows that she’s definitely got the whole lot. Above everything else, she has the attitude, talent, and charisma to match. You can see why she’s tipped as the next big thing to come out of London

BASTIEN release quirky jangly indie banger – ‘Green Garden’

Relationships are an interesting topic for a song as there are quite a few ways to go about it. BASTIEN has taken a completely simplistic approach for their latest tune, Green Garden. It’s not multi-layered and is fairly easy to follow, it’s not far off from Wake Up Boo (Boo Radleys). Seb Pettit’s singing is soft and has an understanding feel to it, a bit like how you talk to a friend, and that’s how he talks into your ears.

Whilst there’s no official music video for BASTIEN’s song there is this. The image no doubt is supposed to be a simple reference to the song’s name. Just listen and let your ears be soothed by Seb Pettit

Holly Henderson’s psych-pop gem – “The Planes”

British singer-songwriter and all-around talented music maestro Holly Henderson has released the official video for her song The Planes. As a song plane is an easy listening one on the ear and overall pleasant to listen to. Even Holly’s voice is smooth comma haunting and soft. Having heard a song, which is about having that connection with that special someone be it a partner or friend, it’s nice to get a video that has just as intimate a feel.

The video is simplistic and a perfect complement to the song. It’s a sort of Day in the Life/Video Diary type and it’s mainly just of Holly sitting in her home playing and singing to the camera intercut where’s the footage of her looking out of the window. If anything, the concept is somewhat rather sweet and it’s like something right out of a home film recording
