MPs Criticise Government Policy After Homeless Man Dies Near Parliament

The Government have received a wave of criticism from fellow MPs after a man who was sleeping rough at Westminster tube station in the vicinity of the Houses of Parliament, expressing that they do not think that Government is doing enough to tackle homelessness and ensure their safety.
The body was discovered in the early hours of yesterday in an area where many homeless people look for a place to rest for the night. He was pronounced dead when the police and ambulance service arrived on the scene.
Since the death was made public, MPs have been criticising the Government for its harsh policies that have caused an increase in the number of homeless people having to sleep rough, endangering their lives. In the last seven years, the number of rough sleepers has steadily been on the rise.
Many MPs have expressed their concern on Twitter. One Labour MP, Neil Coyle (@coyleneil ), said: “I’ve been told that the man who died on Parliament’s doorstep this morning was homeless. What an appalling indictment of Government failure”.
The leader of the opposition Jeremy Corbyn had time to walk past the place where the man was found dead to leave flowers and a card in tribute of the homeless victim. The card reads “This should never have happened. As a country we must stop walking by. Rest in peace”.
