Missiles Shot Down over Two Syrian Airbase

Syrian aircraft defenses whose most modern weapon is a three-decades-old Russian-supplied anti-aircraft system, shot down missiles over the western city of Homs and another base northeast of the capital, Damascus, the state news agency said early Tuesday.
By marking the attack as “aggression”, The news agency telecast the pictures of a missile that was shot in the air above the air base only days after a U.S., British and French attack on Syrian targets related to a suspected chemical attack on Damascus.
Though the Syrian news agency did not indicate the source of the strike, social media reports are pointing the finger at Israel for the strikes.
“The strikes had not caused any casualties and that Syrian military facilities suffered only minor damage” said Col Gen Sergei Rudskoi of the Russian military as further details began to emerge about the sites targeted by the US-led strikes.
In a report from last year its been said that Shayrat airbase was targeted earlier in a US cruise missile attack that killed at least 70 people, including children on the rebel held town of Khan Sheikhoun.
“There is no US military activity in that area at this time,” by denying the strike in Hons, a Pentagon spokesman said, “we do not have additional details to provide.”
