Mike Shinoda – Post Traumatic

You really want to like ‘Post Traumatic’ purely for the fact that this is clearly an album of a deeply personal nature following the death of fellow Linkin Park band mate Chester Bennington. In fact no matter what the music is like you can’t help have some empathy for Mike Shinoda. While the lyrics are hauntingly beautiful at times the music is uninspiring. As ‘Hybrid Theory’ was Linkin Park’s golden goose ‘Post Traumatic’ is more a reflection of where Shinoda’s band headed afterwards. Tellingly it is his connection to one of music’s elite acts that makes this record noteworthy at all even if it does have the odd moment of poignancy.
