Meet Siyanda, the Kew Garden’s protector of plants who will be greeting visitors at the Temperate House. Siyanda, the guardian of the glasshouse is on a mission to protect the planet’s precious plants through a theatrical experience.
The Temperate House – the world largest surviving Victorian glasshouse, has recently reopened its doors after a huge five year restoration.
The theatre will be on until Saturday 20 to Sunday 28 October 2018, so there is more than enough time for visitors to come and see the breathtaking sights of the Temperate House as well as meeting Siyanda.
During the theatre, visitors will discover why these plants are important to us and why it is important to protect them. Moving through the leafy Africa Zone, Siyanda will tell the visitors about different types of plants – plants that can cure disease, plants that are near extinction and plants that are in need of both our care and protection.
Visitors, both adults and children will be in for a treat throughout! Siyanda will showcase those who are responsible for caring for the plants at the Temperate House – the horticulturists and scientists who collect, study and nurture plants from all over the globe!
