The candidate of Chichago mayoral Amara Enyia has got $73,540 donation from Kanye West six days after Chance the Rapper’s celebrity endorsement elevated Enyia in the crowded race to replace Mayor Rahm Emanuel.
The donation news confirmed on Monday, at a press conference at Chicago City Hall, and Chance himself will run the office.
Enyia is using the donation money for the compaign debts to the Illinois State board of Elections, and will allow the candidate to get on the election ballot. The Amara Enyia campaign thanks Chicago native, Kanye West, for his support.
In a report, Enyia told that Chance was not only throwing his celebrity power and fundraising muscle behind her candidacy. He’s giving her his time and his ideas on how to confront Chicago’s most vexing issues.
Another high-profile musician, Grammy-winning Chance the Rapper also sipporting Enyia. The Chicago rapper has donated millions of dollars to public schools in the city.
“I’d like to say, very narcissistically, if I back you, you have a chance, absolutely.”
“All the candidates started sweating because Chicago politics is about people knowing what’s possible,” saying this the Rapper said “Nobody wants to vote for who should be mayor everybody wants to vote for who could be mayor.”
Chance said he wanted to support the candidate he felt would best do the job of mayor, not a candidate viewed as the most likely to win the race.
