MAX: Exclusive Backstage Access & Gig Review

MAX is soulful yet sultry, classic but contemporary, and polished yet personable. The 25-year-old singer is currently on tour with Fall Out Boy as a support act (alongside Against The Current) and we had the privilege of meeting him backstage before his first show to talk about everything from music and style to love and the environment.
Max wore his trademark pink shades during the interview and exuded a level of cool that many try so hard to achieve yet fail to pull off with such pizzazz. He was friendly and chatty and incredibly pleased to see his family enter the dressing room at the end of the interview – we even managed to capture footage of Max’s wife Emily greet the up-and-comer with a kiss (video coming soon)!
We came back later for the gig and the atmosphere was electric. Max bounded onto the stage with contagious energy and set the place alight with his slick dance moves and undeniable rhythm. He kick-started the show successfully and got the crowd dancing and chanting along to his songs whilst also remembering to introduce and praise his performance partner Ryan.
‘Basement Party’ was a particularly catchy number that got the thousands in attendance moving, although ‘Gibberish’ also made an impression with its techno beats and fierce lyrics. His latest track, ‘Lights Down Low’, was the final song to be played and everyone got involved shining the torchlights on their smart phones in the darkness to achieve a starry, romantic ambience perfect for the smoothness of this gorgeous single.
Overall Max’s set was lively and exciting – it certainly succeeded in getting the masses pumped for Fall Out Boy.
