This is the sixth extended play by South Korean boy band BTS. It is scheduled to be released on April 12 via Big Hit Entertainment. The album will reportedly be the “beginning of a new chapter” for the band, and the first in a new series of albums.
The trailer for the album was released named “Persona” on March 27 and was described by Refinery29’s Natalie Morin as “a colorful, dynamic song” and “nodding to the band’s coming-of-age and self-discovery themes.”
BTS released two sets of versions photos to illustrate the EP’s concept on April 1 and the trailer for the song “Boy with Luv” featuring American singer Halsey was released on April 7.
Other tracks of the album are “Intro: Persona”, “Mikrokosmos”, “Make It Right”, “HOME”, “Jamais Vu”, and “Dionysus”.
On April 13, one day after the release of the album, BTS will perform as the musical guest on Saturday Night Live. It will serve as the album’s television debut, and two songs will be performed.
For the promotion of this album and their previous album Love Yourself: Tear and Love Yourself: Answer, the band will precede a world tour across North America, South America, and Europe.
According to iriver Inc, the distributor for the Map of the Soul: Persona, stock preorders for the album surpassed 2.68 million copies over the first five days of the pre-order period.
