World Coconut Day is observed to make people understand that this crop has a vital role in poverty reduction. The day is observed on 2nd September. This year theme is ‘A Healthy Wealthy Life with Coconut’. The another purpose of observing the day is to commemorate the formation day of Asian Pacific Coconut Community(APCC). India is one of the founder members of APCC. Approximately 400 farmers from all coconut growing states will take part in the event.
