Macular Society

This might just be the most common disease you’ve never heard of.

Macular disease affects 1.5 million people in the UK today, and that number is set to double by 2050. It attacks the back of your eyes, gradually destroying your ability to read, drive or even recognise your family. There’s no cure, and for most people, no treatment.

Incredibly, in 2020, people are still being told: “There’s nothing we can do. Go home and wait to go blind.”

This is unacceptable.

Will you join our battle for a future without macular disease?

You could run a marathon, row the Thames, or climb Mount Fuji from the comfort of your own house or garden! By doing your very own virtual challenge, you will be helping people with macular disease at a time when the need for support has never been greater. The coronavirus is impacting us all, but we must continue funding research and to be there
for everyone who needs us.

However you like to work up a sweat, and whatever your level of fitness, you can take on a virtual challenge in 2020. And even better than the feeling of accomplishment is the knowledge that every pound you raise
brings us closer to Beating Macular Disease.
