It’s been a tough few years for Lily Allen with something of an identity crisis following her divorce along with a manifest distrust of the music industry hitting boiling point. It takes a brave person to confront what is wrong in their career and set about getting back on track again, and that’s exactly what Allen has done with No Shame. You can tell this is liberating work from the enthusiasm and bright way it’s delivered. Although the music is a little pedestrian in places, it’s a record full of cathartic messages of positivity. This is a freeing of the spirit and there’s never any shame in that.
